Le Repaire - Gustavia

A bustling brasserie on the harbor, Le Repaire opens at 6 am when crewpersons stop by for croissants and coffee while getting their boats ready for the day. They also serve American breakfasts. By midday salads and sandwiches replace the croissants and by evening steak frites and Creole dishes take center stage. Le Repaire gets a shipment of French mussels and oysters every Thursday. They rarely make it to the weekend. An attractive stop with whitewashed walls, waffle-top tables and director's chairs, it often has reggae music on tape. Pool tables and live music on weekends keep La Repaire busy till its 1 am close (the kitchen closes earlier).

La Crêperie - Gustavia

With only a half-dozen tables inside and even fewer on the sidewalk, you may find yourself waiting for a table at La Crêperie. It is one of the few restaurants that serves all day from 7 am till 11 pm. At lunch you can dig into a burger or sandwich, but everyone around you will be eating a buckwheat crêpe filled with Swiss cheese, spinach and bacon or tarragon chicken, among other fillers. If you prefer to nosh or need a late afternoon pick-me-up, you can try the wheat crêpes filled with ice cream or you can have an ice cream sundae.

A small, clean restaurant that makes overstuffed sandwiches with chicken, eggs, smoked fish and other items. Also crêpes and ice cream. You can eat inside or on the terrace, and take-out is available.

La Créole Restaurant and Bar - Saint Jean

In the hub of the island's largest shopping center, this restaurant has indoor tables as well as tables on a terrace. They serve American-style food, including hot dogs, burgers, ham and cheese sandwiches, mushroom and cheese omelettes and roast chicken.

A small café with a great view of this upscale residential area and the coast, Le Ti serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. House specialties are Creole dishes such as crayfish fricassee, lobster salad with Creole sauce and snail cassolette, but you'll also find hamburgers, salads and pizzas.

Picnic Fare - Pointe Milou (mid-island)

Want to spend the day on the beach? Pick up picnic food at the La Rotisserie shop nearest to your hotel. They sell roast chicken, French and local sausage, pâtés, tabbouleh, salads, sandwiches, cheeses, quiches, freshly baked bread and pastries. Pizza too. The main store is in Gustavia on Rue du Roi Oscar II. Branches are in Saint Jean and Point Milou. The shops in Gustavia and Saint Jean open at 7 am. The one at Point Milou opens at 5 am and serves breakfast.
